Making an Early Impact
Julian Genova is an American pianist, conductor, composer, producer, and orchestrator whose work blends lush orchestral textures with jazz and soul influences.
He first gained recognition as a blues keyboardist, performing with his band Take Two, which represented Colorado at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis for three consecutive years. With Take Two, he has shared the stage with artists including Walter Trout, Alvin Youngblood Hart, and Janiva Magness.
Alongside his early performance career, Genova pursued classical piano studies under Russian Conservatory trained pianist Ara Gevorkian, and later worked with Steve Barta, Brad Bietry, and Eric Gunnison at Colorado College and the University of Denver Lamont School of Music, where he became an active presence in Colorado’s jazz scene.
He is currently studying film scoring with a minor in conducting at Berklee College of Music, working with internationally recognized pianists and composers such as Tim Ray, Bob Winter, Yoko Miwa, and Pat Bianchi.
As a performer, he has appeared internationally alongside artists including Victor Wainwright, Ron Mahdi, and Bob Margolin, a longtime member of Muddy Waters’ band.
In 2024, he released Christmas After Hours, a collaborative album with vocalist Destiny Leigh, known for her appearances on The Voice. In 2026, he composed the score for his first film, which is set to premiere at the 2026 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.
